HOUSTON – October 4, 2023 – Today, Protect and Serve Texas PAC (PSTX PAC) announced a united front of Houston first responders after the Houston Professional Fire Fighters Association (HPFFA) endorsed John Whitmire for Houston Mayor. HPFFA President Marty Lancton issued the following statement:

“John Whitmire has always been a champion for first responders, and the Houston fire community knows he has our back. Now, we’re ready to have his back to make sure our firefighters and all first responders have the resources they need to keep our fellow Houstonians safe. Whitmire has worked tirelessly to support our firefighters, most recently by authoring and successfully passing legislation to protect the rights that our firefighters have earned. Senator Whitmire's experience, vision, and steadfast record of supporting first responders will make Houston a safer city, and HPFFA is proud to support his candidacy for mayor.”

PSTX PAC spokesperson Donald Baker issued the following statement on HPFFA’s endorsement:

“Whether it’s police, fire, or EMS, first responders know that John Whitmire is the only candidate who will prioritize the public safety of Houstonians. It’s refreshing to see a leader that actively acknowledges and honors the sacrifices our first responders make on a daily basis by ceaselessly supporting them. Whitmire's unwavering commitment to the men and women who keep our streets and neighborhoods safe is a testament to his character and to the kind of leader he will be as Houston’s next mayor. We are proud to see a united front among the Houston first responder community backing John Whitmire.”

HPFFA’s endorsement of Whitmire over the weekend follows the Houston Police Officers’ Union endorsement of his candidacy in February.
